Hey, it’s Aaron—the guy behind the camera! The Morongo Pow Wow brought back memories from my younger days with its huge tent, but what really impressed me this time were the vendors! They completely surrounded the grounds, and there were so many! Fry bread was a bit pricey at $8 each, which adds up quickly for families, and casino rooms were even steeper at $500 a night. Thankfully, admission and parking were free, and the MC hooked me up with a meal ticket 😎 The porta potties behind the vendors were relatively clean, so no complaints there! Overall, this pow wow gets a gold star from me. Tate Honadick, the MC, did an amazing job keeping the flow of dancing smooth, without unnecessary rants, and wrapped things up perfectly by midnight. My only minor gripe? The bird singing during the dinner break went on for three hours. I enjoyed it, but I think two hours would've been enough since everyone seemed ready to head home as it got late. One of the highlights was seeing 20 drum groups—usually, I only see a few at smaller pow wows, so that was a treat. Unfortunately, the speakers were muffled, so I couldn’t catch all the names of the groups for my video like I normally do. After recording all day, I ended up with 9.5 hours of 4K footage. Since I try to get my videos out quickly, I’ll be uploading in 1080p to save time. For Saturday’s pow wow, expect three parts: the afternoon session, the 3-hour bird dancing, and the evening session. Thanks for watching, and maybe next year I’ll cover the Peon Games for YouTube—stay tuned!
