There are 2 categories of scapular winging: Medial and lateral scapular winging. Most scapular winging videos only discuss how to fix medial scapular winging. Unfortunately, this doesn't help you if you're suffering from lateral scapular winging. Medial scapular winging is when the scapular "wings" and moves towards the midline. This is often the result of weakness of the serratus anterior muscle, as well as tightness in the rhomboid minor and rhomboid major muscles. Lateral scapular winging is when the scapular "wings" and moves away from the midline. This is often the result of weakness in the upper trapezius muscle and tightness in the pectoralis major muscle.
