The Balloonist // The Fountain

The Fountain, taken from the EP 'Wulfrun' by The Balloonist. The EP is a tribute to the titular open air shopping precinct that once existed in the West Midlands city of Wolverhampton. The site was built in the 1960s and adjoined the larger, indoor, Mander Centre. It remained open air until the late 90s, when it was covered over and homogenised. Gone was the futurist, concrete structures, so beloved of the post-war architects. The Future was disappearing. I have many fuzzy memories of visiting the Wulfrun Centre in the 1980s and 90s, with my mum. The video is some slowed down details from old super-8 film found on Youtube and the glassy gaze of Anne Diamond, another figure that haunts my childhood... The footage does not belong to me, but I am going to track down the owner, hopefully. No fear of me making millions from my interpolation though...
