The car is a survivor 1972 Ford Galaxie 500. Between the fender rests a healthy 400 CI engine originally 2 barrel carb and has already been upgraded with a Holley 600 cfm 4 barrel carb before. The water pump was making noises so let’s change it now before something bad happens in the future. You know the story, once the front of the engine is out the camshaft change is going to be easy, however it was decided to pull the engine out so everything can be inspected. The cam, lifter and springs was provided by Comp Cams, part# K32-242-4, Dur 262/270, Dur @050 218/224 and Lift 513/520. The cam should offer better mid range with street manners for a daily driver. A hi volume aluminum water pump and a MSD distributor cap and rotor will help the engine to run like it should. A B&M torque converter was replaced as well. After everything been inspected and assembled the engine was painted to the correct Ford color. Even though using a brand new 160 F thermostat valve, the car overheated and after a quick research the thermostat valve was replaced and the temperature came back to the normal range. Everything was professionally done by engine builder Felipe Andreis in Florida. The result is a better daily driver with an intimidating sound. Let’s take it to the drag strip in a near future to check how much better it is new.
