In this 7th episode of “In the Field with Donal Boyd”, we follow Donal (a resident of Iceland) as he brings us along on his expedition to photograph the famed arctic fox in the most remote nature reserve in Iceland: Hornstrandir. The realm of the arctic fox. For Donal, it’s the eyes of the arctic fox that portrays a particular intensity. And in this short film, Donal aims to capture the essence of their being by exploring the environment they inhabit on their terms. The only permanent residents of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve are the birds and the arctic fox. There are no humans that inhabit this land year-round. No electricity, no road access, no running water, and no cellphone network. The arctic foxes roam here freely amidst the immense cliffs and endless shorelines. The perfect setting to photograph the arctic fox, unhindered by the pressures of humanity elsewhere on the island.
