Ltd. Initiative Project Objective Managing the disposal of the Foundry Reclamation Dust & other Dust Collector collection as been a major challenge for the foundry industry. While reclamation overcomes the challenge of 75-85% disposal of sand, the 15-25% dust also needed solution. The disposal of variety of plastic has been a big issue for environment, and the solutions have been leading to replacing with alternate materials. The challenges of managing the transition are many and we cannot rule away the advantages of plastic use. On the other hand construction and building is a major consumer of raw materials such as sand and clay or cement, depleting natural resources. Rhino R&D Team took this as a challenge on their hands, and did a lot of research. They put together the objective of the Waste to Wealth Agenda as below: Make Foundry Reclamation Process Zero Discharge Consume other foundry dusts Identify and use other wastes such as fly ash, plastic Create Wealth from Waste to enhance the viability of Reclamation Plant Data of usage of plastic as one of the bonding agents in other processes showed us the way, and the experiment under controlled conditions was conducted at Rhino. The R&D Division used this pre-research, and set up the process, pilot production, aligned with experts in the industry to make a bricks/blocks of various forms, arranged the testing to lead to a SPB (Silica Plastic Block) with a strength greater than 2 times of the conventional Red Clay Brick – opening up a wide area of possibilities.
