Explore the versatility of using a cast pharmaceutical gelatin plate to create multi-layered images with MGNE artist Tamar Etigen. Tamar will use plant material and found objects to demonstrate how to create layered and colorful monotypes. The workshop demonstrates a registration system allowing work on two prints simultaneously. This medium is non-toxic, low tech, versatile, very accessible and does not require a press. Tamar Etingen is a multi-media artist and teacher currently concentrating on Gelatin Plate Monotypes. Tamar has exhibited sculpture, installations, paintings and prints in universities, galleries and museums on both U.S. coasts and in the state of New Mexico. She is a Master of Fine Arts (Vermont College of Fine Arts) and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (University of California Berkeley). This program is hosted by the Monotype Guild of New England. The Monotype Guild of New England is a nonprofit organization of contemporary artists creating unique impressions by working in the medium of monotypes and monoprints. Founded in 1985 by a small group of New England artists, the Guild has curated over one hundred exhibitions and has expanded its membership to include artists from across the United States.
