L'aggiunta del Basso Continuo, come nella versione qui riprodotta, è invece inserita nell'edizione del 1617. La parte del Basso Continuo non è essenziale ai fini dell'esecuzione, poiché il mottetto può essere eseguito anche a cappella, senza l'utilizzo di alcun strumento musicale. The first edition of motet "Cantantibus organis" composed by Peter Philips is published in 1612 (Cantiones Sacrae) "for the principal feasts of the whole year and the common of the saints". The volume was reissued in 1617 with a "basso continuo" part, and this has been used to supply the figured bass in the present version. The organ part, according to the 1617 edition, is not essential to the texture, therefore whether realisation is used is at the discretion of the conductor.
