If you are looking for an easy South Indian style appe recipe made with moong dal, this quick recipe is perfect for you! ⸻ 🟢 Moong Dal Appe Recipe 🥣 Ingredients: • Green moong dal – 1 cup (soaked 3–4 hours) • Green chilli – 1–2 • Ginger – 1 inch • Onion – 1 small (finely chopped) • Red and Yellow Bell pepper • Capsicum – 2 tbsp (finely chopped) • Salt – as per taste • Red chilli powder – ¼ tsp • Eno/Fruit salt – ½ tsp (optional for softness) • Oil – for cooking ⸻ 👩🍳 Method: 1. Wash and soak moong dal for 3–4 hours. 2. Drain water and grind dal with ginger and green chilli into a smooth batter (use little water). 3. Transfer batter to a bowl. 4. Add chopped onion, red andyellow bell pepper, capsicum, salt, and red chilli powder. Mix well. 5. Heat appe/paniyaram pan and grease with oil. 6. Pour batter into each cavity. 8. Cook on low–medium flame until golden brown. 9. Flip and cook the other side. 10. Serve hot with chutney. ⸻ 🔴 Tomato Onion Chutney Recipe 🥣 Ingredients: • Tomato – 3 medium • Onion – 1 medium • Garlic – 10-12 cloves • Dry red chilli – 2 • Oil – 1 tbsp • Salt – as per taste 🔹 For Tempering: • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp • Urad dal – ½ tsp • Curry leaves – few • Hing – pinch ⸻ 👩🍳 Method: 1. Heat oil in a pan. 2. Add urad and chana dal then add garlic and ginger sauté for few seconds. 3. Add chopped onion coriander stems and green chillies and cook until soft. 4. Add tomatoes and cook till mushy. 5. Cool and grind into smooth chutney. 6. For tempering, heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad and chana dal, curry leaves and hing. 7. Pour tempering over chutney.
