Watch this shocking story of an 83-year-old woman's Walmart trip that could have been her last. #crimecamnow #walmartincident #CrimeCamNow On July 6, 2023, Edmond police responded to a 911 call from a Walmart in Edmond, Oklahoma, about an 83-year-old woman who was robbed in the parking lot, leaving her with head trauma. Emergency medical services and officers rushed to the scene. An officer spoke with a Walmart employee who was reviewing surveillance footage to identify the attacker. While waiting, the officer stepped outside to check for witnesses and found the victim’s truck. The store manager mentioned that one of the employees, identified as 21-year-old Latrayia Johnson, appeared to have followed the elderly woman to her vehicle. When the officer returned inside, Johnson was still in the store. She was detained while officers worked to sort out what had happened. The officer then spoke with the elderly victim, who described her stolen purse, and efforts began to locate it. Meanwhile, another officer interviewed Johnson, who gave her version of events. She claimed she was homeless and had been working at Walmart for two months to turn her life around. According to Johnson, the elderly woman had asked her for directions to the restroom. Johnson said they both went to the restroom, where she alleged the victim stole her phone. Johnson claimed she heard her phone ring from inside the elderly woman’s bag. She confronted the woman, asking for her phone back. Johnson alleged that when the woman refused and cursed at her. She claimed she then helped the elderly woman to her car, where the woman allegedly attempted to return the phone. However, she admitted to snatching the phone back, which she said accidentally caused the woman to fall and injure herself. Officers found the story suspicious but continued their investigation. They searched the women’s restroom but found no evidence. Meanwhile, Walmart staff reviewed surveillance footage, which revealed Johnson throwing the victim’s purse into a trashcan. Officers retrieved the purse, finding all the woman’s belongings except her cash. Officers reviewed the surveillance footage but found no signs of any confrontation or shouting as Latrayia claimed. Instead, the video showed Latrayia following the elderly woman, later returning with her purse and discarding it in a trashcan. A few minutes later, the injured woman was seen returning to Walmart. When officers informed Johnson she was under arrest, she broke down in tears, insisting the elderly woman had stolen her phone and claiming she was being targeted because of her race. During transport to the station, she continued crying and repeating her claims, invoking racial discrimination. During a follow-up interview, Johnson's story shifted multiple times, each version becoming increasingly unbelievable. She was charged with first-degree robbery and aggravated assault and battery. Additionally, officers found nearly 23 grams of marijuana in her purse, leading to a separate charge of possession of a CDS. Facebook: / crimecamnow Twitter: / crimecamnow Instagram: / crimecamnow
