Hello, I’m Utku and I’m here to share and document my journey of building a portfolio of software companies that are specifically non-AI. Why? Because honestly, I’ve had enough of the AI hype. I’m deliberately staying away from building “ChatGPT wrappers” and instead focusing on real software problems that don’t rely on AI buzzwords. My goal is to document the entire process and, hopefully, share insights and learnings that are genuinely useful to other software engineers who want to build their own products. Back at university, I built an event ticket marketplace that completely flopped. I learned a lot from that experience - but I didn’t document any of the lessons. More recently, I built a web app that lets you make cheap international calls directly from your browser. Unlike the marketplace, this “Skype alternative” actually gained traction and has now grown to 1000+ users and is still going strong. It’s called dialvia.com if you’re curious. Now I’m working on my 3rd app - something I’ve personally wanted to build for a long time but never had the time to. This time, I want to properly record the process. I’m planning to document my thinking, decisions, mistakes, and trade-offs so I can later look back and clearly see what I did right and what I did wrong. The goal of this channel isn’t to promote Dialvia or push the new app. It’s simply to share real experiences from building software in the hope that it helps others who are thinking about building their own products. Hopefully you find it valuable, and I hope you enjoy following along.
