ABC's Xtreme Parenting episode aired on May 5th this year. My family and I were one of the segments that night. I found out a week later that we were the highest-rated TV show of the hour anywhere on prime-time TV that night. It just amazes me that this long after all the hoopla, well... that there's still hoopla. Anyway, executive producer Muriel Pearson contacted us and asked us to to the piece about a month in advance and I'll be honest; we were a little worried about it. We thought about it for about a week and agreed to do it based on what they told us the piece would be about. ABC's crew came down for about two and a half days to film, and the correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi did our on-camera interview. Muriel Pearson produced the piece and all the footage. They were both great ladies and it was a rare honor to get to meet them, and to have them in our home. We even got to treat them to some local cuisine here in Albemarle. (If you guys haven't been to "Off the Square" you're missing out on the best kept secret in town!) Chris and Bill (the videographer and sound engineer) were also awesome guys to get to meet. They shared their technical expertise with me as much as they could and allowed me a peek in the lives of the professionals that do this kind of stuff for a living. All in all they tried to be as unobtrusive as possible and gave us a great experience, if any experience that involves being followed and filmed for three solid days can be said to be great! lol. After the piece aired I asked Muriel if I could use any of the piece on YouTube under my own name and on my own channel. ABC graciously granted me permission, which I really appreciate. That's not something I'd imagine news networks do very often, but I guess we made them enough money that night. lol If you'd prefer to see the piece in it's entirety on ABC's official page, the story is located at: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/video/jord... This version you are seeing has my commentary added between the scenes, so it's about twice as long as the original. I'll be uploading another version without commentary later on and I'll update this description once it becomes available. © Copyright 2012 Tommy Jordan. All Rights Reserved.
