Validation means acknowledging another person’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors as understandable given the causes. Validation does not mean you agree with or condone the behavior. We only want to validate what we genuinely believe is valid and want to be sure not to validate the invalid behaviors. In this video, we go into detail about the six levels of validation that will help you become a more effective communicator. Validating others helps improve and maintain our relationships, can help de-escalate other’s emotions, and allows for problem-solving to become possible.
