PAE PAE O HE'EIA VOLUNTEER WORKDAY: FIGHTING INVASIVE JELLYFISH

Howzit gang, a little different kine vid. Taking a break from the poles, but we staying makai. Me and my son head out to the windward side to put in some work. One of our favorite places to be: He'eia fishpond. We signed up for a comunity workday which they open to public on every 2nd and 4th saturdays of the month. On this day we get the fun and neccesary task of combating the invasive Casseopia upside down jellyfish. After introductions and Pule(prayer) we get an education from Bruddah Ka'eo on the science and habits of the jellyfish and how it affects the ecosystem in the fishpond. Then we jump in and get muddy! You get to see what this battle is all about. After we have completed our tasks Bruddah Ka'eo talks about the importance of the work they do there and how appreciative they are to get vollunteer manpower. He also talks about sustainability for our islands and why we need to hanai kuleana. Then we head back to the main tent and grab some killah grinds prepared by the staff.
