A group of friends came together for an epic adventure ride, tackling both on and off-road challenges while soaking in breathtaking views. Splitting into two groups, Renee, David and Steven took on the rugged terrain of Mt Horrible and Palmers Oakey Rd—we had already conquered it the week before. This time, they noted that the notoriously slippery causeway, which had been treacherous last week, was now dry. Meanwhile, the rest of us, Toni, David, Keryn and Chris tackled Razorback Road (built by the Chinese as a shortcut to Sofala) off Upper Turon Rd, a rocky one-lane climb offering sensational views before opening up along the ridgeline, where we cruised through rolling farmland under clear skies and 36°. We had also been tipped off about Aaron’s Pass Road. However, those who recommended it hadn’t realised that the road had been sealed in recent years. It is now sealed all the way to the start of Sallys Flat Road, making for a fairly straight forward twisty ride. While it had a few off-camber corners to keep things interesting, it wasn’t anything particularly special compared to the more rugged tracks we had tackled earlier. Still, it was another road explored and another great day of riding with mates. On our second day, after a comfortable stay at the Hill End Lodge (which included a welcome gift in Steven’s room—see photo 😂), we set off toward the Devil’s Marbles, eager for another day of adventure. The ride was smooth, and we all took a moment to appreciate the stunning scenery before parting ways. Chris, Keryn, and Steven began their journey home via Tarana, while Toni, David, Renee, and David opted for a more scenic route, winding through the backroads via the old favourite, Trunkey Creek. It was the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable trip—great roads, incredible views, and even better company. With Steven Chang, David Powell, Renee Fraser, Keryn Ghosh, Chris Ghosh.
