If you are around the Gunnison and Crested Butte, Colorado area, make sure you ride this trail. This is a bucket list ride. In this video I will be sharing one of the most sought after trails on the planet….the 401 trail. Located at the top of Schofield Pass, the famed singletrack of the 401 Trail veers right starting with a tough and consistent climb for 1.3 miles through dense trees. Near the top, the grades gets easier, the trees open up, and the views behind you are stellar. The climb isn’t really all that hard – nothing technically – but your lungs will keep reminding you are at 11,000 feet above sea level. This ride made it to my top of my mountain biking list. Why? The high alpine trail offers an epic descent with breath-taking views of the Gothic Valley and Mount Crested Butte. The video says it all. The unsurpassed 360 degree alpine views of the Elk mountains, followed by the first of the steady downhill. The trail is one of the best in Colorado. It’s a must do!
