Exploring NOVA SCOTIA's South Shore 🐚⛵ | Visiting Lunenburg, LaHave Islands, Beaches & Sea Caves! 🌊 Nova Scotia Road Trip: Gold Panning, Sea Caves, Beaches & Bluenose II! Join us on an epic multi-day adventure through Nova Scotia’s South Shore—from hunting for gold at The Ovens to celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Bluenose II in Lunenburg. Hit Subscribe and savor every moment! 1️⃣ Gold Beach at The Ovens Walked down Canard Beach, site of Nova Scotia’s only gold rush: miners literally dug up tons of sand and shipped it off for processing. Stood on the tiny remnant of beach and joked about finding a life-changing nugget. 2️⃣ Tucker’s Tunnel Explored a hand-dug mine shaft—miners followed a gold vein from the high ridge all the way down to the ocean. Marvelled at the sheer effort “Tucker” must have put in, wishing he’d struck it rich. 3️⃣ Sea-Cave Trail Adventure Weaving through dripping sea caves & tunnels—watch your step on the slick rocks! Felt the spiderwebs, dodged mosquitoes, and heard distant bats echoing. 4️⃣ Picnic Lunch Break Quick roadside feast: baguette sandwiches with salami & cheese, plus cookies (“gigos”)—fuel for more exploring. 5️⃣ Cable Ferry Shortcut Boarded a tiny cable‐ferry to bypass a long coastal drive—blink and you’ll miss it! 6️⃣ Risser’s Beach Arrived at a vast, white-sand beach framed by forest. Only 60 people in sight—pure tranquility. Impromptu swim (in swimsuit-less spandex!) in refreshing water under perfect mid-summer sun. 7️⃣ Hemlocks & Hardwoods Trail Hiked through ancient Acadian old-growth forest: towering 400-year-old hemlocks & fragrant balsam firs. Stopped at a lakeside lookout, heard loons calling—almost spotted a bear! 8️⃣ Pioneer Farmstead Remains Stumbled on an early 1800s settler’s field—imagined clearing those trees by axe & ox. 9️⃣ Digby Scallop Capital Boardwalk stroll in Digby, “Scallop Capital of the World”. Witnessed monster tides, heard loons, and savoured a seaside seafood platter: scallops, shrimp, fish & chips. 🔟 Point Prim Lighthouse Visited the 1817 foghorn & light beacon; learned sailors once watched for ships guided by bone-fires & musket shots. 1️⃣1️⃣ Ferry to Brier Island Crossed to Long Island via the same cable ferry—great views, quick ride. 1️⃣2️⃣ Balancing Rock Hike Conquered 20-minute woodland walk + 257 stairs down to an ocean-balanced basalt column—200 million years in the making! Enjoyed unobstructed cliff views. 1️⃣3️⃣ Sandy Cove Beach #2 Sunset stroll along another near-empty beach—wide sands, forest backdrop. 1️⃣4️⃣ Morning in Lunenburg Celebrated Bluenose II’s 100th anniversary—caught the legendary schooner taking inshore wind. Toured the Fisheries Museum, then sailed on historic Teresa E. Connor to learn cod-fishing with dories & sun-dried salt cod. 1️⃣5️⃣ Countryside Drive to Annapolis Valley Wound through farmland, glimpsed endless lakes—dreamt of future canoe portages & the famed River Runners Trail. 1️⃣6️⃣ Barbecue in Annapolis Royal Grilled chorizo & burgers on a bright deck in Annapolis Royal—simple supper after a day of sights. 👉 Ready for more Acadian adventures?
