Here’s some good news for parents: you don’t need to entertain your child 24/7! Giving your child time to play alone (but not unsupervised!) is actually important for their development. This is called independent play, and it helps little ones: • Build creativity and confidence • Develop problem-solving skills • Discover their interests and strengths • Learn self-regulation skills Independent play can start as early as 6 months, or when Baby can lift their head and reach for toys while on their tummy without help. For babies, independent play might look like letting Baby explore toys during Tummy Time while you sit nearby. For toddlers and kids, it might look like pretend play, drawing, or playing quietly (or loudly) with toys in their own space. Remember, independent play doesn’t mean unsupervised play! Always keep an eye on your child, especially if they are a baby or toddler. 📹 6 Stages of Play: How Babies and Toddlers Learn Through Play | Baby Development Tips: • 6 Stages of Play: How Babies and Toddlers ... 🏠 Visit Pathways.org for more FREE resources: https://www.pathways.org 👶 Download our FREE, award-winning mobile app, featuring important milestones to keep Baby on track: https://pathways.org/mobile-app 🔗 Independent Play can Boost Confidence, Creativity, and So Much More: https://pathways.org/independent-play 📧 Stay in the know!
