Two policemen and an officer have been removed after a woman student was beaten up by policemen during protests at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi on Saturday night. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an investigation amid outrage over a widely shared video in which two cops are seen thrashing the woman with batons. Following the violence, the university advanced its holidays, starting it from today instead of September 28. Other colleges in Varanasi have been shut too.
