Winter has returned to the Kenai Peninsula, and this is my third winter living, traveling, and filming out of my 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro here in Alaska. In this episode, I head back to one of my favorite places — Kenai Lake — for a quiet overnight van-life campout surrounded by snow, mountains, and absolute stillness. I set up camp right at the shoreline, cook a warm meal inside the Vanagon, walk the snowy lakefront, enjoy the fire, and settle in for a true Alaska winter night. The Vanagon becomes a cozy basecamp in the middle of deep winter, and moments like this remind me why I love living up here. This winter (2025–2026), I’m filming more than ever — remote campouts, storms, icy roads, and the everyday beauty of Alaska. The goal is to bring you along for all of it.
