θoʊθ (Thoth, I think) is a death/doom metal band, hailing from Germany. Ruins of Gubla is their/his/her (there is no info about who is behind that project, add points to curiosity and mystical) first demo, released just under 2 weeks ago. From their bandcamp - “Ruins of Gubla” is telling the story of a team of archaeologist who discover and fataly unearth dozents of ancient tombs in Byblos, Lebanon in the year 2020 AD." And let me tell you, that description fits so well with this Ancient Death Metal that θoʊθ brings to the table. Terrifically ritualistic and crushing atmosphere, neverending fountain of grimy and mumified riffs found in a dank cave buried deep beneath. Glyphs and elder beings to be found. If you are one that constantly craves something more unique or unusual, then this is absolutely for you. The production they gave to this music sets it appart from the average modern death doom band. If they release a full-length it might as well be in your AOTY chart, top 10 minimum.
