UNREAD - An Untold Story is not just about what is written, but what is left unsaid. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Director’s Note: UNREAD – An Untold Story came from a mix of observation and instinct. I had seen similar cases surface in recent times, and as a Radiohead fan, the haunting pull of Creep gave me the tingle that became this film. At first, it was just a story to help my sister with her festival submission, but it quickly turned into something more personal. What I want most from this film is awareness: to remind people to check on those they love, and to show that a prank that feels funny in the moment can cut deeper than you ever expect. But underneath that, I wanted the film to leave a gut-wrenching feeling in the pit of the stomach, the kind that lingers after the credits fade. We didn’t have the budget or the gear, so we shot it entirely on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. That limitation became a learning curve for me as a first-time director. From recording, editing, to color correcting, I learned more in four days than I could have imagined. This isn’t my 100%, but it is an honest attempt. The part I hold closest is the fractured ending: Aarohi’s scream cutting back and forth between silence and stress. She doesn’t scream in reality, only in her head, and those abrupt cuts are meant to show that fracture of the mind. It is imperfect, but it carries reason. For me, UNREAD is proof that my love for thrillers finally found a voice on screen. I almost nailed the feeling I was chasing on my very first try.
