What makes a lick truly yours? Can you ever actually get away from the influences that shaped you? And what’s the deal with how gear never manages to give you the exact same tone as someone else? Guitars used: Jared James Nichols is playing his signature Epiphone Jared James Nichols “Blues Power” Les Paul™ Custom HERE: https://bit.ly/4sP0niF Dinesh is playing a Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s P-90: https://bit.ly/49Uy7m3 You can watch the whole video by clicking HERE • Jared James Nichols on His WILD Vintage Le... In this Gibson Gear Guide Artist Greenroom clip, blues-rock force Jared James Nichols sits down with Dinesh Lekhraj to chat about turning what inspires you into something entirely original and why chasing after someone else’s tone is always going to leave you sounding like yourself. In this really honest chat, Jared explains the freedom that comes from taking a simple lick and just twisting it up into something new. His advice is that guitar is all about experimenting, messing around, and not being afraid to do something completely different from where you think that solo is supposed to go. “I take that lick & do a million different things to it,” he says. He also opens up about some of the mental traps that can stop us guitarists from really doing our thing, like overthinking solos or getting too caught up in gear. Jared shares some stories about him playing with all sorts of iconic guitars from Jimi Hendrix’s Strat to Eddie Van Halen’s guitar, and the one thing he learned from all of this is that “I still sounded like me no matter what.” This is something you should really watch if you’ve ever felt stuck between copying your guitar heroes and finding your own voice. Jared explains why it’s not all about the amp, or the pickups, or even the lick itself; it’s about what you bring to it and what you play. This is how to get out of your own head when playing guitar and how to just enjoy it. 📼 Related Videos To Watch Next: ▶ Jared James Nichols NO PICK Technique: • Jared James Nichols – blues techniques wit... ▶ Watch the FULL Jared James Nichols masterclass: • Jared James Nichols on His WILD Vintage Le... ▶ Watch Joe Bonamassa show you how to use your Les Paul: • Joe Bonamassa's Gibson Les Paul tone tips ...
