When Polish and Soviet troops entered Warsaw in January 1945, they did not find a city they found a "landscape of brick dust." This is the declassified story of how architects used 18th-century paintings to rebuild a capital that had been deliberately erased from the map. This documentary explores the WWII History of Warsaw's destruction and its miraculous rebirth. We analyze the staggering scale of the ruin (90% destruction in some districts), the desperate survival of "Robinson Crusoes" in the rubble, and the massive logistical operation of the Bureau of Reconstruction (BOS). Unlike other cities that modernized, Warsaw made a radical choice: to rebuild its Old Town exactly as it was, using memory as a blueprint.
