I decided to experiment with a flyback transformer and a CFL driver circuit, and the results were beyond anything I anticipated! This project combines the power of a flyback transformer (salvaged from an old TV) with the driver from a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) to generate an incredibly high voltage output. In this video, I walk you through the process step-by-step: Flyback Transformer: Identifying the primary input pins on the flyback transformer. CFL Driver: Finding the optimal output pin on the CFL driver circuit to pair with the flyback. Connections & Power: Making the necessary connections and safely applying 220V mains power (PLEASE BE CAREFUL - HIGH VOLTAGE!). Output Identification: Locating the high-voltage output on the flyback transformer. Spark Enhancement: Boosting the output spark by using a high-voltage capacitor for maximum effect. The result? A massive, long spark! It was so powerful, in fact, that it ended up blowing the fuse on my CFL driver circuit at the end! WARNING: This project involves potentially lethal voltages.
