A time lapse video of the scenic Berthoud Pass between Winter Park, CO to Empire, CO, starting from Grand Lake, CO. The pass reaches an elevation of 11,307 ft, and has steep grades of 6.3% on the southern side, along with a number of switchbacks. This was an accidental discovery on our road trip. We were on our way to the Independence Pass from Grand Lake, and the pre-planned route was through Hot Sulphur Springs and Kremmling before joining I-70 at Silverthorne. However, we found cheap gas at Fraser and decided to take the detour. It was later that we realized we had just driven through the Berthoud Pass.
