More than 160 guests including others members of the Royal family and British Prime Minister Tony Blair were in attendance. In a speech during the banquet, the Queen said that China's growth brought difficult challenges and great opportunities. "It matters to all of us what kind of country China's people will build, and what role they will play in the world of the 21st century and how this will be perceived by others," she said. Supporters - and those opposed to Hu - lined the streets outside Buckingham Palace as the banquet took place. Hu is on a three-day state visit to Britain, and on Tuesday was officially welcomed during a ceremony at Horse Guards Parade in central London.
