Hearing Group hearing professional Brandi has some hearing aid tips and tricks, and advice for hearing aid users in this video – check it out! Hearing aids are a big investment, and when you spend that money, you want to make sure you're getting the most out of it. So Brandi has a few tips that will help keep your hearing aids working better and longer, and help you enjoy your hearing aid experience as much as possible. Tip #1: Clean & inspect your hearing aids every day. Daily care is important to extending the life of your hearing aids and getting the best sound quality out of them. Every day, you should inspect the tip (or dome) that goes into your ear and make sure it's free of debris, wax and dry skin, and make sure there aren't any rips or tears. It's important to keep your hearing aids as clean as possible yourself at home, but it's also important to come in and get them cleaned thoroughly by your hearing care professional regularly. Tip #2: Keep your hearing aids as dry as possible. Moisture is hard on hearing aids. When we say moisture, that can submerging them in a pool or getting them wet in the sink, but it also includes sweat and humidity from the air. It's vital to the health of your hearing aids to keep them as dry as possible. A few tools that can help with that are the CleanDry or StaDri boxes (both available at our online store: https://www.hearinggroup.com/shop/) or a fresh desiccant block in your charger (if you have rechargeable hearing aids.) Tip #3: Wear them regularly and consistently. The best way to get the most out of your hearing aids is to wear them regularly and consistently. Typically, you should be wearing your hearing aids from the time you wake up in the morning until the time you go to bed at night – minus showering, swimming, and yard work including loud equipment like weed-eaters or lawnmowers, anything that could damage your hearing aids or your ears. Wearing your hearing aids all day helps your brain adapt to your listening environments and keeps you hearing your best. Tip #4: See and talk to your hearing professional regularly. One of the most important tips we can give is to go see your hearing professional regularly and communicate with them. They'll clean your hearing aids and make sure they're working properly and that they're still appropriate for you and your hearing needs. Your hearing professional can also answer any questions you might have and help you with any problems that have come up.
