It all finally comes together this week. After weeks of disassembling, scrubbing, modifying and reassembling individual engine components like the cylinder heads, rocker arm assemblies and engine block, it's finally time to bring all of the pieces together and assemble this Facebook Marketplace Ford engine. First up, I'll install the cam bearings and cam plugs. Next, I'll show you two ways to check the main and rod bearing clearances. We'll use plastigauge to take a first pass at determining the bearing clearances. Then we'll use a caliper and dial bore indicator to measure the clearances in a more accurate fashion. Next it's time to install the crankshaft and rear main seal. With the crankshaft in place, the pistons and rods can be installed to complete the short block. A Comp Cams 268H camshaft, lifters and timing set were installed next, followed by the oiling system, oil pickup, and oil pan. The cylinder heads were then installed, followed by the lifters, intake manifold and finally the pushrods and rocker arms assemblies. With the full long block complete, I painted the engine Ford blue, installed the freeze plugs and set the Holley Terminator throttle body, distributor, headers, and air cleaner in place. I couldn't be more pleased with the final result and I hope you like it as well!
