Kenya has emerged as a digital leader in Africa, with mobile penetration at 96% and innovations like M-Pesa transforming financial inclusion. Yet, a persistent digital divide excludes marginalized communities rural populations, women, youth, persons with disabilities, and low-income groups from the benefits of this progress. Slightly below 22% of rural Kenyans have internet access compared to over 80 % in urban areas, while women and persons with disabilities face additional barriers like affordability and digital literacy. The session sought to explore solutions in bridging this divide, using technology as a tool to empower marginalized communities, enhance access to services, and drive equitable socio-economic growth.
