This is Part 12 in our Series on Planning & Creating a Food Forest Paradise! We're approaching the Summer Solstice, and the forest is FULL OF LIFE! Everything is growing so well, the native wild fruit trees and other permaculture species that are feeding us, and will continue to feed us FOREVER, are growing so well. But not only them, we also have medicinal species, we have species that help us to do our permaculture work and to increase our abundance, and perhaps most important, we have the native species that support the biodiverse native wildlife that is so important in order to have a healthy and balanced ecosystem, and help us to grow even more native food species that will feed us. By ensuring that we have numerous biodiverse native flora species in our food forest, we are ensuring that we have native wildlife using that forest, and they in turn are helping us to ensure that the ecosystem is healthy and biodiverse by, themselves, planting the species that they browse on here and elsewhere onto the land. In doing so, they will have the food they need to support themselves, the land will be rich with life, and many of those plant species they plant, feed us as well. On top of all this, by ensuring the animals have these plants species they prefer, and by ensuring that most of these plant species are a good distance from our main gardens, we are helping to steer those potential foragers away from our gardens. We love to see the animals, they are happy and well fed, and what they plant for us feeds us as well, and they mostly leave our gardens alone! It is a true recipe for success that we have been experimenting with now for four and a half years. We started by putting in a good number of native species ourselves, and then the ANIMALS SHOWED UP to CONTINUE to VASTLY IMPROVE UPON the work we started, setting up for us an ABUNDANT & DEEPLY NUTRITIOUS FOOD FOREST that WILL FEED US FOREVER!
