Hawaii Weather - Go to the following websites to help out those impacted by the recent floods: https://fundraise.salvationarmyhawaii... https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/03... The calm stretch of weather following the back-to-back Kona Low storms may be coming to an end. Weather models are hinting at another chance for heavy rainfall and flooding next Wednesday and Thursday. The weather models could still evolve drastically before next week, but let’s talk about the current data. Flash flooding could occur quickly and without warning if we do see another round of heavy rainfall. The ground remains mostly saturated following the deluge of rainfall we experienced in March, meaning any additional rainfall will struggle to absorb into the ground and could lead to quick runoff. In the meantime, partly-to-mostly sunny skies will continue across the state. High pressure will continue to sit in place to the north of the island chain this week, creating breezy trade winds into Easter weekend. A few showers are possible over windward and mauka areas, but rainfall totals will be relatively light through Monday. The weather pattern, however, starts to shift on Monday. An approaching cold front from the northwest will push the high pressure to the east and weaken the trade wind flow. Winds will become more southeasterly on Monday and Tuesday. The winds will shift to be even more southerly on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the front’s arrival. These southerly winds will draw moisture-dense, unstable air across the island chain, leading to the potential for heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday. Strong upper-level winds over the state could also lead to further intensification of the rainfall during the middle of next week. Models are starting to converge on the possibility of the heaviest rainfall falling over Kauai, Oahu, and potentially Maui County. There is a possibility that the system weakens as it moves over Hawaii Island. Yet, with the chance for heavy rainfall being this far out, there could be drastic swings in the forecast over the next several days.
