On June 4, 2022, 19-year-old Rachel Hansen was shot inside her apartment at the Redstone at SanTan Village complex in Gilbert, Arizona. Just one night earlier, she had woken up to find a stranger standing over her bed. He ran when she screamed. The next night, around 2:00 a.m., someone entered Rachel’s apartment, kicked in her bedroom door, and shot her while she slept. Rachel managed to call 911 before collapsing. She was rushed to the hospital, but after hours in surgery, she died from her injuries. Nearly four years later, no one has been arrested. Rachel had just moved back into her apartment after subletting it for six months. Neighbors believed drug activity had been happening there before she returned. She had recently been fired from a horse ranch job in Queen Creek, Arizona, and had experienced escalating tension in her personal life, including documented threats made against her weeks before her death. Investigators have examined multiple theories: Was Rachel an unintended target tied to her former subletter? Was the shooting connected to a dispute at the horse ranch? Or was someone in her inner circle responsible? Adding to the mystery is a jar of unopened pickles left behind after the first intrusion, partial shoe print on her bedroom door, and Ring camera footage heavily redacted in police records. In this episode, Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat take a deeper look at the evidence, the unanswered questions, and the frustrations Rachel’s family continues to face with the investigation. Rachel Hansen was 19 years old. She had just started a new chapter of her life. And someone knows what happened inside Apartment 3133 that night.
