The United States Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, kicked off their 2022 Airshow Season at Naval Air Facility El Centro, CA on 3/12/2022. The team flew a High Show, "Big V" formation after Blue Angel 4, Maj. Frank "CHOMPS" Zastoupil suffered a mechanical issue with his flight control system shortly after startup. Unfortunately, he would miss the remainder of the demonstration as the only spare jet was already in use with another pilot. With their first show complete, the Blue Angels will be visiting 32 more cities across America. This year marks the team's 76th year of demonstrating the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, as well as their second year of flying the highly sophisticated Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. DISCLAIMER: This will be the first of several videos I shot throughout the week of the team, most of which I decided to film in one single cut to include 100% of their demonstration from start to finish. For the sake of some viewers, I will add time hacks to each phase of the demonstration in order to jump right to the action.
