2-22-26, Chad Cooper This powerful message confronts us with a fundamental question: what are we truly connected to? Drawing from John 15 and the profound imagery of Jesus as the true vine, we're challenged to examine whether we're drawing life from the right source. The sermon beautifully weaves together the story of the Samaritan woman at the well with God's ancient complaint against Israel in Jeremiah—that His people abandoned the fountain of living water to dig cracked cisterns that could hold nothing. We see how Israel, once called God's vineyard, produced bitter grapes instead of sweet fruit because they relied on religion, rules, and rituals rather than relationship. The central revelation is stark yet liberating: we are branches, and branches produce nothing on their own. Apart from Christ, we can do absolutely nothing. But when we remain connected to Him—not occasionally, not just on Sundays, but in daily, ongoing dependence—His life flows through us and produces fruit we could never manufacture ourselves. The fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, and self-control becomes the evidence of our connection. This isn't about trying harder or doing more; it's about staying connected to the only true source of life. The Dust Bowl imagery drives home the reality that dry ground doesn't need advice or effort—it needs water. Our souls need the living water that only Jesus provides. Chapters Chapter 1: Worship and Announcements: Preparing Hearts for the Message 0:00 - 9:26 The service begins with worship and important church announcements about mission trips, men's ministry, and community outreach opportunities. Chapter 2: The Samaritan Woman: Finding the True Water Source 9:26 - 42:56 We explore how Israel abandoned God as their fountain of living water and examine Jesus's encounter with the Samaritan woman who was searching for fulfillment in the wrong places. Chapter 3: I Am the True Vine: Understanding Our Connection to Christ 42:56 - 59:36 We study Jesus's declaration in John 15 that He is the true vine and we are the branches, exploring what it means to remain connected to Him for fruitful living. Chapter 4: The Dust Bowl: What Happens When We Disconnect 59:36 - 78:04 Using the historical Dust Bowl as an illustration, we see what happens to our souls when disconnected from Christ, and receive the invitation to connect to the living water. Chapter 5: Commissioning and Sending: Bearing Fruit Through Mission 78:04 - 82:25 The service concludes with a baptism and the commissioning of a missionary to Paraguay, demonstrating what it looks like to bear lasting fruit through connection to Christ.
