This marks the beginning of restoring my early 1900s general store, a space long forgotten but rich with history. In this video, I share my progress as I start breathing life back into this building, beginning with a shed in the back that I’m converting into a tiny home. To stay true to the character of the space, I salvaged wood from another abandoned home—material that will become the siding for the tiny home and carry its own history into the new build. Along the way, I share some of the treasures I’ve uncovered, including a find from the early 1700s—a rare find that adds another layer of history to this project. I also highlight a few other historic discoveries I’ve come across in the building, pieces that remind me why I’m drawn to this kind of work: preserving the beauty and spirit of forgotten places. This is just the start of a long process, and I’m grateful to have you along for the journey. I’m restoring this beautiful general store on a shoestring budget, and every single donation means the world to me.
