I first created this mix last year, inspired by Eugene Lee Yang’s incredible “100 Years of Gay Icons” performance from the Try Guys’ Legends of the Internet Tour (2019). His performance moved me deeply, and it sparked the idea to craft my own Gay Icons Mix—a tribute that has grown and evolved over time. Now in its third (and hopefully final!🤞) version, the mix draws inspiration from Eugene’s brilliant concept, with my own spin: reimagined structure, new edits, and plenty of additions. LGBTQ2IA+ history and culture are so rich, vibrant, and expansive—it’s truly impossible to capture it all in one mix. But I’ve done my best to honor the icons, voices, and moments that have shaped Queer culture, and for those I couldn't fit into the mix, especially my personal favorites, I’ve made sure to spotlight them in the accompanying video. This has been, without a doubt, the most ambitious mix I’ve ever taken on—and also the one closest to my heart. It took countless hours to piece together, but every minute was worth it.
