Another year, another fantastic line-up at the Nottingham Goose Fair. This years standout new additions included Matthew’s Skyfall, Taylor’s Booster Maxx and the returning Danter’s Air, all made possible by no clash of dates with Hull Fair. The bottom corner of Aerospace, Top Scan and Skyfall is fantastic. I’m not personally a fan of drop rides and would have preferred Equinox back, but there’s no doubting the popularity and amazing views offered of Skyfall. Just watching people’s reactions after the drop is entertaining. The Top Scan is still, in my opinion, the most intense ride in the country by an absolute mile. Its utter chaos from start to finish and will be way too intense for a lot of people. Personally though it’s one of my favourites and I always have a couple of rides. Aerospace is okay. It’s a bit of a short ride and while smooth, doesn’t really do a lot in my opinion. I still prefer the intensity and ride experience of the older Apollo 13, the best Booster Maxx in the country. I always seem to end up on the wrong side with Aerospace too because it alternates directions. The top of the fair was shook up by the return of AIR, which dominated the area. It also seems to be back on form. After a few years where it seemed tame, it’s not back to its intense but smooth ride cycles that I’ve loved over the years. Getting a great ride and knowing I’d get another go at Hull a few weeks later is something I wish happened every year. The atmosphere was electric on all 3 of the nights I visited, even at times of heavy rain. The ride line-up is so good, you have to be selective nowadays (I gave Ice Jet a miss knowing it’d be at Hull) or else you could easy spend hundreds. I’ve always said Hull is the best fair in the country but after this year, and how good the line-up was once again, it’s a closer call than ever before. Music is “Hotter Than Hell” by Dua Lipa
