I recently had my Cybertruck Tonneau cover replaced (under warranty) because of a mechanical issue which was causing deep scratches & a 5 Cm by 30 Cm mark on the top center of the cover. Mechanically, the cover worked and operated correctly, but the marring of the surface was getting noticeably worse, so I essentially stopped using it while I figured out the repair. As it happened, I was at the Giga Texas factory for a tour in early July, & while I was there, I talked to some members of the Cybertruck team & I mentioned this issue. I also mentioned I had noticed similar issues with early Release Candidate (RC) versions of the Cybertruck around the factory & that I thought it might be related. They looked at my cover, took images & measurements. They told me I should get a service appointment & have the entire cover replaced. So, I set up an appointment with my Tesla Service Center in San Antonio & recently had the work completed. The problem turned out to be one of the rods that run along the width of the cover & is part of the retracting mechanism. There is supposed to be a NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness) pad to prevent this from happening, but apparently one of these rods had a bend in it & this was causing the scraping and delamination as the cover retracted and then extended. For illustration, I used a few video clips form Munro Live when they disassembled the Tonneau cover as part of their Cybertruck series of videos. The solution was a complete Tonneau cover replacement, which was done (under warranty) & now it seems to be rectified. I am not sure how many might have a similar issue, but I hope you find this video helpful.
