This is a live video being taken on 1st September 2024, from the main entrance gate of Durgapur Steel Plant, a unit of Maharatna PSU SAIL The Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) management has been trying to implement Biometric Attendance for the last few years, to which the largest labour union of DSP, the Hindustan Steel Employees Union (HSEU) has opposed vehemently. The reason for such opposition has been specifically clarified by Simanta Chatterjee, the secretariat convener of HSEU in a recent interview given to Youtube Channel ‘Sachetan’ which you can listen to by clicking the following link:    • Exclusive Interview: HSEU Secretariat Conv...   In a recent circular given by the DSP management on 14th August, it was mentioned that from 1st September 2024, Biometrci Attendence system will be implemented for all DSP workers, to which HSEU moved court and on Friday, the High Court directed Tribunal to resolve the matter as early as possible; but has not given any verdict which says that the old identity card will be invalid. Today when the workers’ with old I Card tried to enter the plant premises, they were not allowed to enter and what follows is there for you to see in this video.
