Birmingham Stove & Range made several cast iron pans especially for cooking outdoors, though some of these have been nearly forgotten. Since summer is here and it's time to do some outdoor cooking, this is a great time to bring out a BS&R cast iron spider, and cook an easy and delicious dish of chicken and rice, using coals and a coal chimney. I don't have a BS&R camp oven, so I had to bring along a Lodge 8 inch camp oven; but I'm proud to own a BS&R spider. and I was glad to have the chance to cook with this. I hope you enjoy seeing some of the history of the forgotten pieces from Birmingham Stove & Range, ones that certainly deserve to be discovered and preserved.
