🎞️ Here’s my Kettlewell walk, a cracking route through the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Starting in the lovely village of Kettlewell, it crosses two beautiful valleys, Wharfedale and Littondale, and passes through places like Hawkswick and Arncliffe. Expect riverside paths, open hillsides, historic features, and classic Yorkshire views from start to finish. 🧭 The full route is 9 miles and takes around 5 hours to complete, with a total climb of 536 metres. There are two solid ascents that will test your stamina, especially the steep pull out of Arncliffe towards Brayshaw Scar. Full step-by-step directions, route statistics, interactive maps, and GPX downloads are all available on the walk page. 🏡 Kettlewell sits right in the heart of the Dales and has plenty of character. The River Wharfe runs through the village, and the surrounding landscape is classic Yorkshire, green fields, dry stone walls, and rugged hills. There’s history here too, from old lime kilns and lead mining to the remains of medieval terracing. Keep an eye out for St Mary’s Church and the village stocks, and if you visit in summer, the scarecrow festival adds a fun extra. 📷 This walk is packed with viewpoints and photo moments. You’ll pass the restored lime kiln at Knipe Scar, enjoy wide open views over Littondale, and follow peaceful riverside paths beside the Skirfare and the Wharfe. Highlights include St Oswald’s Church, The Falcon Inn, sweeping views of Buckden Pike and Great Whernside, old stone bridges, and some lovely woodland sections. 🚶♀️ If you fancy a route with a bit of everything, views, history, rivers, villages, and energetic climbs, this Kettlewell walk is well worth doing. https://www.paulbeal.com/kettlewell-walk
