Salted Caramel Rice Krispy Treats 3 tablespoons butter 4 cups mini marshmallows 6 cups rice krispy cereal 20 Kraft Caramels (unwrapped) 1 ½ tablespoons heavy whipping cream (hwc) ⅛ teaspoon fine sea salt Using a medium stockpot over medium heat, melt butter and marshmallows stirring frequently – this should take approximately 2-3 minutes. Once marshmallows are almost melted, turn the stove eye off. Add rice krispy cereal and mix well to incorporate. Set aside. In a microwave safe bowl add caramels and hwc. Microwave on high for 30 second intervals, stirring between each, until the caramels begin to melt. This should take approximately 1 minute. Remove caramel from the microwave and stir continually to fully incorporate the cream and caramel. Set aside for a few minutes to cool. Prepare a 13x9x2 pan by spraying with cooking spray. Set aside. Add ½ of the caramel mixture to the rice krispy mixture, half of the sea salt, and stir carefully to incorporate the caramel. Spread the rice krispy mixture into the prepared 13x9x2 pan. Spray your hands with cooking spray or use butter and press the mixture into the pan evenly. Add the remaining sea salt to the remaining ½ of the caramel, drizzle over the top of the rice krispy mixture. Slice and enjoy! These treats are best enjoyed within 2-3 days. They may be left at room temperature; however, if it is extremely hot outside, cover and place in the refrigerator.
