Patanjali Yog Sutra | EP #37 | साधक का पहला स्वधर्म — अवलोकन | Sri Guru "Introspection is a door to immense transformation within." Introspection (अवलोकन) is used as one of many formal approaches in psychology to analyze one’s thoughts and feelings. However, in Spirituality, introspection is one virtue that is needed at every stage of a seeker’s growth. That is why it is referred to as स्वाध्याय (Swadhyay), that is, to study and evaluate your own Self. Sri Guru says that true progress is possible only after we make ourselves the subject of our study. Our scriptures give immense importance to the practice of Swadhyay. But what is the right approach to make the most of Introspection? Through the Patanjali Yog Sutras, Sri Guru simplifies the essential practice of Introspection and how to do it the right way. The Patanjali Yog Sutras explain about the अष्टांग योग (Ashtanga Yog) illustrating the 8 Elements for a Holistic Life, i.e. यम (Yama), नियम (Niyam), आसन (Aasana), प्राणायाम (Pranayama), प्रत्याहार (Pratyahara), धारणा (Dharaana), ध्यान (Dhyana), समाधि (Samadhi). The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali consist of 196 Sanskrit Sutras organized in 4 Adhyaya (chapters) — समाधिपाद (Samadhipadah), साधनापाद (Saadhanpadah), विभूतिपाद (Vibhutipadah) and कैवल्यपाद (Kaivalyapadah). He defines Yoga as that which restrains the mind-stuff (Chitta) from taking various forms (Vrutti). At SRM, Sri Guru has always emphasized the subtler spiritual objective of Yoga; hence, the term ‘YogaYog' was coined— experiencing Union (Yog) through Yoga. Through this Satsang series on the Yog Sutras of Maharishi Patanjali, Sri Guru takes the seekers deeper into the understanding of ‘Union' through physical, mental, and intellectual evolution. _____________________________________ Nourish your soul with many more such inspiring talks by Sri Guru: https://bit.ly/3rxFtqT About Sri Guru and Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, Delhi: https://srmdelhi.org Wish to contact us?
