Your Valentine (St. Valentine of Terni)

Though we know the name from the eponymous holiday, hardly anyone knows about this great Saint. In fact, very little is actually known of St. Valentine since in the Roman Martyrology there are two St. Valentines whose feast days land on February 14: St. Valentine, the priest, of Rome and St. Valentine, Bishop of Terni, the latter whose story we have written on for this song. Both were martyred and both share the same stories that related to miracles. Regardless of who we speak of, we defer to the ultimate end of their lives, the true love of their lives, Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, who prompted these men to offer their very lives for love of God and the salvation of souls - this is True Love. A note for our beloved brethren and listeners - it should be no scandal for you to realize that there is at times ambiguity or lack of detail in the lives of the early saints. These were troubling times, the times of the Catacomb Church, when our forefathers in the Faith faced fierce persecution by the hands of heathens, heretics, and Jews alike. There was hardly time to write down detailed accounts of one's life when you ran the risk of being discovered and slain. The blood and the Graces that flowed thereof are proofs enough.
