The World's Only Magnetic Black Sand Beach | UREKI GEORGIA 🇬🇪

Today we visited the stunning seaside town of Ureki here on Georgia's black sea coast 🇬🇪 A town that seemingly holds the only magnetic black sand beach in the whole world. Started the day on Kobuleti promenade looking at the beautiful coastline before heading to a local Georgian bakery for a 'Gurian' khachapuri, a specialty from this region of the country that includes boiled eggs aswell as butter & cheese. For only 5 GEL it could fill you up all day it's a heart attack in breakfast form. Jumped on any marshrutka going down the coast and got off at Ureki for only 3 GEL each, crossed the train tracks and walked down the rural backroads to the beach. The beach here is said to be the only magnetic black sand beach in the world so its very special and in summer extremely popular due to the healing properties in the magnetic sand. Back in the days of the soviet union they discovered this phenomenon when prisoners of War were working building sanatoriums, they started to recover from disease and illness such as cardiovascular problems, joint problems etc etc. Obviously in the off season the place is empty and shut down but the beach is still beautiful and we have got probably the last sunny hot day of the year so headed down the beach for a swim. Found some friendly cows, friendly doggos and went for a quick dip in the cold water. This video hopefully shows why you should visit places in Georgia other than Batumi & Tbilisi. The country is full of hidden gems and places like this which are yet to be discovered by international tourists.
