Amazonia Nativa | Forestry project in Colombia

Amazonia Nativa is a project jointly developed by ACT Group and Campo Capital S.A.S. and will use a mix of native timber species and acai palms to reforest land that's been primarily used for cattle ranching. The initial phase of this nature-based solution, funded together with IFU, will allow Amazonia Nativa to plant ~530 hectares of native timber species and 20 hectares of acai palms. Not only will this lead to revenue generation from carbon credits and acai berries, in the long run the project will lead to generation from sustainable timber. The RDC is provided through the Mobilising Finance for Forests program, a #blendedfinance initiative we've established with the UK government to combat deforestation and other unsustainable practices contributing to climate change. This project exemplifies our recent market creation focus, an approach with tackles the most pressing hurdles limiting incipient business opportunities from becoming bankable, as the project intends to scale to at least 7,500 hectares.
