https://nextones.com/article/46 Cam Reddish came into the 2019 NBA draft with high hopes and limitless potential. He watched his college teammates Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett go to the Pelicans and Knicks at picks 1 and 3. Eventually, Cam got the call. The Atlanta Hawks selected him at 10th overall and he had a successful rookie year, averaging 10.5 points per game his rookie season. However, the shooting he was praised for as a 5 star Duke recruit in high school hadn’t completely translated at the collegiate level & in his early NBA career. Cam was shooting just 38.4% from the field and 33.2% from three in 58 games played as a rookie. Heading into his second year, everyone was ready for Cam to take the leap and become a certified scorer for the Hawks. Sadly, Cam suffered an achilles injury that caused him to miss an extended amount of the 2020-2021 season, playing just 26 games. In comparison to the other rookies in his class, Cam has looked relatively good taking a leap forward both offensively and defensively. Clearly, the draft was headlined by his college teammate Zion Williamson, who has lived up to the hype, along with Ja Morant and RJ Barrett. After those first three picks, a lot of the other lottery picks have had similar starts to their young careers as Reddish. Players like De’Andre Hunter, Darius Garland, Coby White, and Rui Hachimara, all taken before Reddish have put up similar career averages as Reddish and help provide their team with scoring and depth.
