http://www.duvaliermalone.com Follow me on twittter @duvaliermalone This is the November edition of Growth Talk Radio Show. I am your host Duvalier Malone and I have with me to Dr. M. Christopher Brown 18th president of the nation's first historically black land-grant institution. Since being named President in 2010, Brown has led the university to be distinguished in many ways, including recognized as the HBCU of the Year by the Center for HBCU Media Advocacy in April of this year. Serving approximately 4,000 students on the main campus in Lorman, along with satellite campuses in Vicksburg and Natchez, Brown provides a student-centered approach to decision-making. "The enthusiasm that President Brown has generated for Alcorn State University gives us a competitive advantage," says Dr. Dickson Idusuyi, associate professor of political science and Faculty Senate president. 1. Alcorn State University has experienced an increase in student enrollment during your administration. How have you been able to accomplish this increase? 2. According to Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) minutes, there is a proposed plan to raise tuition among Universities here within the state. Do you think this will effect student enrollment and will it be difficult to recruit out of state students if this proposed tuition is approved? 3. As a state, what can we do to improve student enrollment and retention at our universities? 5. What initiatives have you put in place to increase alumni giving at Alcorn State University? 6. How can people get involved in helping Alcorn State University build a statue in honor of the legacy of Medgar Wiley Evers? (At this time we will allow people to call into the station and pledge toward this cause) Alcorn State University invites you to join us in honoring the courage, leadership, and dedication of a fellow Mississippian and Alcorn State graduate: Medgar Wiley Evers.
