Newest version of Azure Reflections - v1.20 - added a Boss Rush mode. Here you will fight all available bosses and additionally Marisa & Reimu. In this mode the most important aspect is TIME. Ascetic mode prolongs it because of extra two attacks on each boss. I have to make excuse for one continue used. Yet it doesn't really matter - it even helps as you gain full barrier gauge upon death. Tried hard not to use them but oh well. BTW - IT'S FINALLY HERE!! 5,000 SUBSCRIBERS! It's about to be seen, don't worry~ ----- Azure Reflections is a horizontal shmup Touhou fangame, having its release around week ago, on September 20, 2019. There was an older version of it, Uniting Barrage Action, which was very outdated compared to this enhanced version that PS4 and Switch had by the first release. Story-wise it's a return of Scarlet Mist Incident. Basically yet another EoSD remake. Besides our Touhou 6 cast we have also some returning characters like Sanae, Nitori or Satori. All across seven stages on four difficulties, plus Extra mode featuring Flandre Scarlet - apparently also with four difficulties. AR, besides standard difficulty choice, introduces "Ascetic Mode". In normal gameplay you can save yourself from death as on hit you get stunned instead of insta-killed. Another hit in two-seconds frame would kill you. Ascetic Mode disables that feature, giving full Touhou experience. Additionally every boss has extra two attacks under their sleeves. That imposes a great challenge for brave players. Danmaku Rush is the key feature of the game. It is required for beating up bosses and Lily White/Black as she travels around the stages. Controlling that is quite difficult with keyboard, no joking. Trying to land best hit with keyb might fail upon, beware. The game itself is unusual, as it is horizontal shooter it takes more time to master. Those of you, viewers, might have seen endless live streams trying to make future gameplay as best as possible. Yet... Horizontal nature of it is just one of the problems. I've said AR was released for PS4 and Switch previously. Yep, the game was NOT intended to be played with gamepad. It was not created with keyboard in mind (even despite UBA was a PC-only game back in 2012). It can't be helped. Analog switches play much better with Danmaku Rush feature.
